Academic workshops & activities
IML develops programs tailored to the developmental needs of each Faculty/Academic unit:
- workshops, seminars and other activities that support faculty/unit strategic initiatives in learning and teaching
- workshops for faculties/academic units or course teams on learning and teaching issues, eg. assessment, flexible learning, evaluation and face-to-face teaching
- workshops for part-time teachers
- course development/review group discussions
- facilitating retreat sessions
- Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning modules at Faculty level
Teaching with technology
IML supports the effective use of learning technologies, including UTSOnline. Activities include:
- discussion meetings
- visiting speakers
- pilot projects
- evaluations
IML works with the UTS Web Team to provide:
- advice and guidance on IM project design, development, evaluation and implementation
- advice and guidance on the use of IM in all areas of learning, teaching, research and administration
- assistance in finding IM programs developed elsewhere, but suitable for use at UTS
Support & opportunities for academic staff
Support and career development activities for new academic staff:
- development program for new academic staff
- group or individual consultations with new staff and mentors
- information and advice on academic portfolios
- other faculty-specific support by request
Long-term opportunities:
- collaboration on research and evaluation projects concerning curriculum design and innovation, practice-oriented teaching and learning and assessment
- PEP at IML to undertake a teaching or curriculum development project or research into discipline specific aspects of student learning and teaching
Individual academic staff can request confidential consultations on:
- teaching and learning issues, including developing new ideas or responding to student feedback
- documenting teaching
- academic career development
